The Office of Early Learning depends on input and guidance from the field in order to provide the most relevant and meaningful support to the various NC stakeholders. Therefore, the NC K-3 Formative Assessment Process Advisory Council was established in 2013 for the purpose of informing and guiding the Office of Early Learning on the development and implementation of a formative assessment process for us in kindergarten through 3rd grade. Membership is diverse, with multiple stakeholders represented (teachers, families, administrators, coaches, college/university faculty) from all eight NC State Board of Education regions. The council meets approximately four times a year.

Today's Purpose: K-3 Assessment Advisory Council members will focus on
identifying strategies for building administrator awareness and support for
the NC K-3 Formative Assessment Process. Council members will learn about
others’ experiences and recommendations for engaging administrators
and share their own successes and lessons learned. Members will learn
more about what data are available to share with administrators and discuss
strategies for using reports and KEA data to support ongoing conversations with administrators.
